Data Mart
The Data Mart feature
provides a query/reporting capability allowing users to instantly obtain
answers to important, simple questions that operational databases and
their report writers typically can't provide on an ad-hoc basis. The data
mart is comprised of a database containing all of the accounting system
information; plus special summary and "value-added" data to
allow for quick and simple querying. The datamart can also include data
from other operational systems. Data from these systems can either be
viewed in-situ or can be imported directly into the datamart. This composite
database provides an enterprise-wide view of company information from
a single source. Specific features include:
- Easy point-and-click
access to comprehensive corporate data via a single application
- Quick view of
the enterprise from 30,000 feet, 300 feet, 30 feet or 3 feet. That
is, a user can see a one-line summary for the company, for each business
unit, for each client, for each project, or for each transaction
- Drill-down, drill-around
capability allowing user to easily navigate through the different
detail levels
- Designed for
use by executives, department managers, project managers or administrative
personnel
- Web-interface
allowing for intranet/extranet access
- Direct interfacing
to or data uploading from other operational databases (Budgeting,
Forecasting, Human Resources, Marketing) means no additional data
entry. Data are typically uploaded weekly or monthly.
- Facility allowing
for convenient export of all query results to Microsoft Excel and
other formats.
